1. Purpose of the Role
The Farm Worker will assist in day-to-day aquaculture and integrated farm operations under Crawfish Himalayan Limited (CHL). The role focuses on the maintenance of crawfish ponds, feed management, water quality control, harvesting, and general upkeep of farm facilities. The worker will ensure that farm activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with CHL’s biosecurity and environmental standards
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Crawfish Pond Operations
- Assist in harvesting, grading, and transferring crawfish between ponds.
- Assist in pond preparation, cleaning, and maintenance before and after stocking.
- Monitor and report on crawfish behavior, mortality, and abnormal conditions.
- Feed crawfish as per schedule and feeding chart provided by the supervisor.
B. Water Quality & Equipment Maintenance
- Regularly check and record water parameters (temperature, pH, DO, etc.) as guided.
- Support in the maintenance and cleaning of aerators, pumps, and water circulation system
- Ensure safe and efficient use of farm equipment and report any malfunctions immediately.
C. Biosecurity & Hygiene
- Follow CHL’s biosecurity and quarantine protocols strictly (footbath, disinfection, PPE use).
- Maintain hygiene in all operational areas, including feed storage and work sheds.
- Prevent contamination or mixing of stock between ponds.
D. Integrated Farming Support
- Assist in the upkeep of associated farm units such as BSF feed area, duckweed/plant ponds, and composting zones.
- Support crop/vegetation maintenance along pond bunds to prevent erosion and maintain ecological balance.
E. Record Keeping & Reporting
- Minimum: Class X passed; preference for candidates with experience in aquaculture or agriculture.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in outdoor environments (ponds, fields).
- Basic understanding of farm hygiene, animal handling, and safety practices.
- Willingness to learn aquaculture techniques and adopt sustainable practices.

- Adaptability to work during weekends or extended hours during harvest periods.
5. Working Conditions
- Work primarily outdoors at the Crawfish Himalayan Farm.
- May involve early morning or evening shifts.
- Use of PPE (boots, gloves, mask, etc.) is mandatory during operations.
6. Performance Indicators
- Timeliness and quality of daily farm operations.
- Adherence to biosecurity and safety procedures.
- Accuracy of record keeping and reporting.
- Teamwork and discipline in assigned duties.
7. Duration and Compensation
- Contract Duration: As per company policy (renewable based on performance).
- Remuneration: As per CHL’s pay structure and Bhutanese Labour Regulations.
